My Grandmother Gave Me Her Diamond, Can I Use it in An Engagement Ring?Absolutely! These are my favorite types of projects. The sentimentality of family jewels cannot be understated nor undervalued. I will personally evaluate the stone(s) and come up with the best way to incorporate them into your new ring!

I Have Gold From an Old Ring, Can You Melt it Down and Use for The New Ring? While all of the metals we use are reclaimed and recycled, I cannot melt down multiple old pieces to create one new piece. Melting down unknown metal alloys and crafting it into a new piece is more than likely to compromise the structural integrity of the new piece. Imperfections in the metal from previous repairs will usually cause porosity and crystalline alloy clumps. This would render the new jewelry structurally unstable. Think of it like mixing a bunch of different cake batters together and trying to bake them properly all at once.

What Can You Make With This Handful of Old Jewelry From My Aunt?Together we will go through each piece of jewelry to determine what stones/elements are usable in your new design. I can use most diamonds, sapphire, rubies, and nearly any other gemstone in your newly designed heirloom piece!

How Does The Stone Assessment Work?My stone evaluation process is extremely thorough. Often, well-loved gemstones will have damage due to long years of wear. Before I remove the stones from their current settings, I deep clean them. Next, I will photograph the stones before they are removed from the setting. Under a microscope, I look for any damaged stones. If a stone appears to be broken or chipped, I will not remove it from the setting. I will contact you immediately with pictures and receive written consent to continue, at the risk of the stone becoming damaged further. I am not liable for any stones that come into my care that have been previously damaged. Depending on the severity of the damage, I can determine if the stone can be used in the new design or sent to a stone cutter to be recut. Unfortunately, there is high risk with setting a broken stone, so most likely I would not be able to use it in your new design. There are. certain gemstones that are not recommended to be set in rings that are to be work daily, those stones include but are not limited to: quartz, coral, turquoise, opal.
