Natural
Diamonds

Thanks to the Kimberly Process, 99.8% of the world's natural diamond trade is now conflict free in 2022. In April 2003, congress passed a law adopting the Kimberley Process that requires all US diamond retailers to buy diamonds from manufacturers who have documentation warranting that the merchandise was obtained through legitimate channels. We strictly adhere to this policy at Exodus Goldsmiths. Click HERE to learn more about the Kimberly Process and how it changed the diamond trade throughout the world!

All of my center stones that are over .50ct. come with a certificate from either GIA, IGI, GSI or EGL. These diamonds will have the certificate number laser engraved on the girdle of the stone, and can be viewed under a microscope when loose or set (with the exception of being set in a bezel). The stone will have a minimum grading of G color and VS2 clarity and Very Good cut. Melee diamonds do not come with certifications from a gemological laboratory, as they are generally too small to grade individually.

Our favorite supplier for natural diamonds is Misfit Diamonds! They are aware and active in learning about the working conditions, labor practices, and environmental factors involved in the mining of each of their diamonds (and sapphires). â€‹

Laboratory-grown diamonds have essentially the same chemical, optical and physical properties and crystal structure as natural diamonds. Just like natural diamonds, they are made of tightly-bonded carbon atoms. They respond to light in the same way and are just as hard as natural diamonds. The main differences between laboratory-grown and natural diamonds lie in their origin. Think of it this way: laboratory-grown diamonds are like ice from your refrigerator, while natural diamonds are like ice from a glacier. They are both ice, although their formation stories and the age of each are very different. Click HERE to go to GIA's website and read more about these stones!

I work with a wide variety of colored gemstones! However, I will only work with stones that I supply from certified stone sources, or heirloom gemstones (passed down from parents, grandparents, etc.). My most beloved suppliers are Gems by Nomads, and Sorbet Sapphires, and other B2B exclusive sources! At this time we do not work with stones sourced from other jewelers or stones bought on Etsy.

My colored stones are generally not certified, as that is not common practice in the jewelry industry, with the exception of extremely rare and valuable gems.  But for an additional fee we can (usually) send your stone to a Gemological laboratory to be graded.

Recycled
Precious Metals

I only purchase recycled and refined precious metals from accredited suppliers. This reduces the need for mining new metals from the Earth. Old jewelry can be melted down and turned into something completely new! To learn more about repurposing your old jewelry, visit our
